Bats of Cannon Hill Common

During the spring bat walk 16.5.14 four species were recorded, including the usual pipistrelle bats but also several passes of serotine and Leisler' bat. Both arrivals of the latter species were later in the evening and neither were thought to be roosting on the site.

4 species of bat have been recorded on the annual bat walks.  Different bat species depend on a variety of roost sites in order to breed, mate, loaf and hibernate. Vigilance during tree works will always be necessary at this site, due to the range of species recorded and the abundance of  roost opportunities. Bat walks will take place this year during September so watch the Friends website for dates.
